Rugby fans are set for a throwback night as the Hurricanes host the Blues in a Heritage Round clash at Hnry Stadium on Saturday night.

The Round 9 fixture, kicking off at 7.05pm on April 11, marks 30 years since the two sides met in the first-ever Super Rugby match in 1996, reigniting one of the competition’s longest-standing rivalries.

Organisers say the Heritage Round will celebrate the Hurricanes’ history, with a full matchday programme planned to engage fans of all ages.

Highlights include the return of the iconic banner run-out, the Hurricane Warning ritual, a lighting and special effects show, and a tribute video marking three decades of the club. Hurricanes legends and alumni are also expected to be part of the occasion.

Gates open at 5.30pm, with the box office opening from 4.30pm. Fans are encouraged to arrive early to enjoy food trucks, music and pre-game entertainment.

Supporters are also being urged to wear team merchandise to help build the atmosphere for what is expected to be a high-energy night in the capital.
