A series of overnight ramp closures and lane restrictions across Wellington’s motorway network will affect drivers this week, with works scheduled from Sunday through to Thursday nights.
NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi says a northbound on-ramp on Transmission Gully, between Pāuatahanui and Mackays Crossing, will be closed on Monday night from 9 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. for weigh gantry installation.
In Tawa, the Takapu Road northbound off-ramp will be closed from Monday to Tuesday nights between 10 p.m. and 4:30 a.m. for paving works.
Further south, the southbound route linking the Tawa off-ramp to the Johnsonville on-ramp will be closed from Wednesday to Thursday nights, 9 p.m. to 4:30 a.m., also for paving.
The Johnsonville northbound off-ramp will close on Tuesday night from 9 p.m. to 4:30 a.m., while the Aotea Quay southbound off-ramp will close on Monday night from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m.
On the main urban motorway, northbound lanes on the Ngauranga Flyover will be reduced on Sunday and Monday nights from 8 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. for Te Ara Tupua project works.
At Kaiwharawhara, southbound lanes will be reduced from Sunday to Thursday nights, 7 p.m. to 5:30 a.m., for barrier renewals.
In Thorndon, the Murphy Street southbound off-ramp will be closed on Sunday and Monday nights from 8 p.m. to 3:30 a.m. for resurfacing.
Central city streets will also be affected. On Vivian Street in Te Aro, a lane closure will be in place between Willis Street and Victoria Street on Thursday night from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. for safety camera maintenance.
A separate closure will affect the southbound section of Vivian Street between Taranaki Street and Kent Terrace on Sunday night from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. for resurfacing.
In Kilbirnie, Wellington Road will be closed northbound between Evans Bay Parade and just west of the Kilbirnie Crescent intersection on Sunday night from 9 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. for paving.
NZTA advises all works are weather dependent and may change at short notice. Drivers are encouraged to check updates before travelling and allow extra time for overnight journeys.
