Phoenix travel to Brisbane this weekend for the first leg of their A-League Women semi-final against Brisbane Roar, before hosting the return match at Porirua Park on May 10.

The Wellington Phoenix will travel to Brisbane this weekend to face the Brisbane Roar in the opening leg of their A-League Women semi-final.

Kick-off is scheduled for 5pm on Sunday, May 3 at Spencer Park in Newmarket, with the tie to be decided over two legs. The return fixture will be played at Porirua Park on Sunday, May 10, where the Phoenix will host in front of an expected strong home crowd.

The winner on aggregate will progress to the grand final.

Brisbane secured hosting rights for the first leg after a commanding 3-0 win over Adelaide United in Saturday night’s elimination final. The Roar are anticipating high demand for tickets, with sales opening to members on Monday morning before going to the general public later in the day.

For Wellington, the semi-final marks a historic step. The Phoenix have reached the finals series for the first time since entering the competition, underlining a breakthrough season for the club.

The two sides have split results across the regular season. They played out a 2-2 draw in January, before the Phoenix produced a 3-0 win at Hnry Stadium in March.

In the other side of the draw, Melbourne Victory beat Canberra United 3-1 to set up a semi-final clash with Melbourne City.

Back in Porirua, preparations are already under way for the second leg, with a temporary stand set to be installed at Porirua Park to accommodate increased demand.

The Phoenix will be aiming to take a positive result from Brisbane before returning home with a place in their first A-League Women grand final within reach.
