A Cuba Street barber, a boutique property manager, specialist builders, heavy vehicle experts, kitchen designers and even a private chauffeur service are among the latest businesses to join the Wellington News Business Directory.

The nine new additions show the breadth of businesses operating across the Wellington region, from small specialist operators through to companies that have been serving local customers for decades.

Here is a closer look at who has joined.

Hutt Auto Valet

Based on Jackson Street in Petone, Hutt Auto Valet brings more than 20 years of industry experience to vehicle grooming and detailing.

The business offers everything from exterior cleans and quick tidy-ups through to premium valet services, with a focus on professional vehicle cleaning, detailing and presentation.

Cuba Barbers

Sitting right in the heart of one of Wellington’s best-known streets, Cuba Barbers combines classic barbering with the character you would expect from Cuba Street.

Operating from 177 Cuba Street, the team provides classic and contemporary cuts, including scissor cuts, fades, razor cuts, long-hair cuts, beard work and wet shaves. The business describes itself as an eclectic mix of music, art and style.

Moloney & Co Property Management

Moloney & Co Property Management takes a boutique approach to looking after rental properties, working with both property owners and tenants across Wellington, the Hutt Valley, Kāpiti Coast and surrounding areas.

Based in Whitby, the company puts an emphasis on local knowledge, one-to-one service and building a working partnership with its clients rather than taking a high-volume approach to property management.

Kitchen Studio

Kitchen Studio has been designing kitchens in New Zealand for 40 years, with a significant history here in Wellington.

Local owners John and Tricia Wilson have been creating kitchen transformations in Wellington for nearly 30 years and operate Kitchen Studio’s Wellington Central and Petone showrooms. Their team includes kitchen designers, installers and operations staff who take customers through the process from initial design through to installation.

Heavy Vehicle Services & Alignment

Based in Seaview, Heavy Vehicle Services & Alignment, better known as HVSA, is an independent family business specialising in the repair and maintenance of heavy vehicles.

Established in 2014 by Glen and Tina Wheeler, HVSA works on trucks, trailers, buses, motorhomes and other heavy vehicles. Its capabilities range from servicing, brakes and suspension repairs through to wheel alignments, chassis work, engineering, fabrication, inspections and certified repairs.

JHP Building Limited

JHP Building Limited is a Wellington residential building company specialising in renovations, extensions and additions, along with new-build work.

Owner and builder Joshua has more than 10 years in the trade and is a Licensed Building Practitioner. The company works across Wellington, Lower Hutt, Upper Hutt and Porirua, with a particular focus on transforming existing homes and creating additional space for homeowners.

Capital Scaffolding

With more than 30 years of experience, Capital Scaffolding works across residential, commercial and industrial projects in Wellington.

The Thorndon-based company provides full scaffolding erection and dismantling services, equipment hire, mobile scaffolding towers and specialist solutions for more complex projects. Its customers range from homeowners and sole traders through to major companies and government organisations.

Executive Private Transport

For people looking for something beyond a conventional taxi or shuttle, Executive Private Transport provides chauffeur-driven private transport throughout Wellington and further afield.

The family-owned business operates executive sedans and shuttles and provides services including airport transfers, corporate transport, private drivers, tours and longer-distance travel. Its customers include private travellers, businesses, government organisations, diplomatic clients and other passengers requiring professional and discreet transport.

Abode Homes

Abode Homes specialises in new homes across Wellington, Lower Hutt, Upper Hutt, Porirua and the Kāpiti Coast.

Founded by two local Wellington builders, the Registered Master Builder offers a total-build service, with customers able to start with one of its existing house plans and customise it to their site and requirements. The company also undertakes knock-down and rebuild projects for homeowners who want a new home without leaving their existing section.

More Wellington businesses in one place

From getting a fresh haircut or having the car detailed to renovating a house, managing a rental property, building a new home or arranging professional transport, the latest additions bring another diverse range of services to the Wellington News Business Directory.

The directory is continuing to grow as a place where Wellington region residents can discover businesses operating in their own communities.

Welcome to Hutt Auto Valet, Cuba Barbers, Moloney & Co Property Management, Kitchen Studio, Heavy Vehicle Services & Alignment, JHP Building Limited, Capital Scaffolding, Executive Private Transport and Abode Homes.

Eight local businesses have joined Wellington News as founding members of the Wellington News Business Directory, helping launch a new guide for readers looking for places to eat, services to use and businesses to support.

These founding members are Squirrel, Nora Kebab, The Villa Cafe, Nicolini’s Restaurant, Masala Cafe & Bar, Addley Painters & Decorators, Barberside and All About Catering.

Together, they give the directory a practical local start, with mortgage advice, hospitality, catering, painting and decorating, and barber services represented.

Squirrel is a mortgage broking, saving and investing business with Wellington advisers helping people compare home loan options. Its local team works with first-home buyers, existing homeowners and property investors, with advice on finding and structuring home loans.

Nora Kebab serves Turkish food from its Upper Hutt and Wellington CBD locations, with dine-in, takeaway and delivery options. Its menu includes kebabs, wraps, iskenders, salads and grilled meals.

The Villa Cafe is based in a 100-year-old villa in the heart of Ngaio village. It is a sunny local cafe offering coffee, tea and food, with off-street parking and a dog-friendly setting.

Nicolini’s Restaurant is one of Wellington’s long-running Italian restaurants, now based on Blair Street after many years on Courtenay Place. The restaurant is known for traditional Italian food, group dining and a warm Wellington dining experience.

Masala Cafe & Bar is an Indian restaurant on Allen Street in Te Aro, offering lunch, dinner, online ordering and catering. The restaurant serves a wide range of Indian dishes and caters for both small meals and larger functions.

Addley Painters & Decorators works across Wellington, the Hutt Valley and Kāpiti, offering painting, decorating and renovation services. The business handles interior and exterior work, including homes, kitchens, bathrooms, laundries and timber restoration.

Barberside provides barber services in Porirua and Upper Hutt, including haircuts, beard trims and shaving. The business serves local customers looking for practical, regular grooming services.

All About Catering is based in Wadestown and provides catering across Wellington and the wider region. Its menus cover morning and afternoon teas, lunches, canapés, corporate catering and functions.

Wellington News would like to thank these eight founding members for coming on board at the start of the Wellington Business Directory and helping to build a useful local resource for readers.

The directory will continue to grow as more Wellington businesses are added.
