Police seek missing Wellington man after flooding

Police are urgently searching for a Karori man unaccounted for following severe weather in Wellington this morning.

Wellington District Police said officers were called about 7.15am on Monday after a concerned resident was unable to contact a family member, identified as Philip Sutton, who is in his 60s.

Police said Sutton’s home on South Karori Road was found to have been affected by floodwaters and debris after heavy rain swept through the area.

Search efforts are now under way across Karori, with officers checking locations Sutton is known to visit. This includes the immediate vicinity of South Karori Road and nearby streams.

Authorities are working to establish Sutton’s whereabouts and are asking the public for urgent assistance.

Anyone who has seen Sutton or has information that could help locate him is asked to contact Police on 111 and quote reference number P066139448.
