Police seek help finding missing Wellington teen

Police are asking for the public’s help to locate a 13-year-old girl missing from the Wellington region, with concerns held for her welfare.

Wellington District Police said Hinemairangi was reported missing on Wednesday, 15 April, after last being seen in the Maupuia area on Sunday, 12 April.

Initial enquiries have been carried out, but officers have so far been unable to locate her. Police now believe she may be in the Levin area.

Hinemairangi is described as about 150cm tall with a thin build. She has black, shoulder-length hair with green streaks. When last seen, she was wearing pink pyjama pants, a sky-blue Leisure hoodie, and blue Crocs.

Police said both officers and the girl’s family are increasingly concerned for her wellbeing and are urging anyone with information to come forward.

Anyone who sees Hinemairangi is asked to call 111 immediately and, if safe to do so, remain nearby until police arrive.

People who may have seen her but do not know her personally are asked to contact police on 105 and quote file number 260416/6258. Information can also be provided anonymously through Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111.

Police say any detail, no matter how small, could help bring her home safely.
