Wellington-based Norwegian songwriter Hanne Jøstensen will finish her six-show winter tour with a performance at St Hilda’s Island Bay Anglican Church on Sunday, September 13.
The concert will be the final event of the 2026 South Coast Arts Trail’s annual festival and celebrates the release of Jøstensen’s second EP, The Lighthouse.
Released on April 17, the EP spent three weeks in the Aotearoa Albums Top 20 chart, reaching number 10.
Jøstensen said the south coast, its people and landscape had helped shape the recording.
“I love the creative vibe and community feel, the roughness of the south coast. A capital city and yet so wild.”
The Lighthouse draws on Jøstensen’s upbringing on a small Norwegian island, where her grandfather was a lighthouse keeper, and her life on Wellington’s south coast.
The EP was developed over five years and recorded and mixed during 2025 with producer Lee Prebble at The Surgery in Wellington.
Jøstensen self-produced the project and created many of its arrangements, combining reflective lyrics, melodic songwriting and atmospheric instrumentation.
The winter tour includes performances in Nelson, Blenheim, Geraldine and Lyttelton before returning to Wellington for the final show.
