Old St Paul’s will open its church interior and grounds to makers, vintage stalls and heritage demonstrations on Saturday 7 November for its second annual Craft & Curio Market.
The Heritage New Zealand Pouhere Taonga event runs from 10am to 2pm at 34 Mulgrave Street, Pipitea, with entry by koha. Stalls will spread through the building, forecourt and lawn rather than being confined to a single market space.
Returning stallholders will be joined by new artists and small businesses selling clothing, curios, heritage crafts and artisan food. Music is also part of the programme.
The market combines shopping with opportunities to see heritage skills in practice. Weaving and embroidery demonstrations are planned alongside bellringing, pipe organ activities, heritage tours and hands-on activities for different ages.
The setting is part of the attraction: built in 1866, Old St Paul’s is a timber Gothic Revival landmark managed by Heritage New Zealand Pouhere Taonga. It continues to serve as a historic visitor site and a venue for weddings and other events.
The market is listed in the Wellington Heritage Festival programme.
