Parking restrictions, stopping rules and traffic controls across 14 Wellington locations are being considered by Wellington City Council.
The proposed changes affect streets from Wadestown and Ngaio through to Newtown, Island Bay, Miramar and the central city.
Among the proposals is a new shared zone on Woodward Street in Wellington Central, with time-restricted loading.
In Thorndon, the council is considering changes to parking restrictions at the Thorndon Pool car park, along with formalising metered and short-term P10 parking on part of Aitken Street.
Changes proposed elsewhere include no-stopping restrictions on Norwich Street in Wadestown and part of Ohiro Road in Brooklyn.
In Ngaio, the council has proposed pick-up and drop-off restrictions and no-stopping areas on parts of Abbott Street and Aplin Terrace.
Other proposals include:
- resident parking and no-stopping restrictions on Henry Street, Kilbirnie
- a stop control on part of Rowells Road, Glenside
- P60 parking on parts of The Parade and Medway Street in Island Bay
- formalising give-way and one-way controls on the Hutchison Road loop in Newtown
- P5 parking changes on Dr Taylor Terrace, Johnsonville
- formalising give-way control on part of Brussels Street, Miramar
- changes to the variable speed-limit area around Te Kura Kaupapa Māori o Ngā Mokopuna.
Public consultation on the August traffic resolutions has now closed.
Wellington City Council says traffic resolutions are the formal process used to change how roads, parking and traffic are managed.
If approved, the restrictions will be entered into the council’s legal database before contractors are instructed to install the required signs and road markings.
