Wellington families, swimmers and cyclists have a busy month ahead, with low-cost recreation events, guided rides and school holiday activities running across the city in June.

Bike repair workshops in Kilbirnie will help people learn basic maintenance skills, with friendly mechanics offering simple demonstrations and hands-on practice.

Guided Welly on Wheels rides will run to Karori, Ngaio, Berhampore and Island Bay, helping riders build confidence on local cycle routes.

School holiday programmes will be available at Nairnville, Tawa, Kilbirnie, Karori and Ākau Tangi recreation centres, with games, trips, crafts and inflatables for tamariki.

At Ākau Tangi Sports Centre, early risers can try social pickleball, table tennis and badminton every Wednesday from 6.30am to 8.30am.

Keith Spry Pool will host Splash Bash on Saturday, June 27, from 4.30pm to 7pm, with a DJ, games and spot prizes. Entry is $5.

Swimmers can also take part in Laps & Latte at Wellington Regional Aquatic Centre every Wednesday from 9am to 2pm, with $4 coffee available after a swim.

Bookings and event details are available through Wellington City Council.
